Wondering if I can mount my psu vertically to make room at the top of my case, will this work out ok assuming I get all the fans pointed properly and what not? Any reason psu's have to be horizontal? Thanks

As long as the air has somewhere to go. You may have to pull the ps apart and reverse a fan maybe. But it shouldnt hurt it at all.

You can mount it vertically, you have no need to be concerned at all.
The only concern I would have is that if it is vertical, the exhaust should be at the top and be pushing air out of the case.

I was thinking about that too. I've currently got mine sitting vertically on my desk... but that will change once I get my Lanboy case... darn slow shipping.

with one of my old cases, I did a really wierd mod that took the PSU out of the case, and put it on top at the back. This opened the area where the PSU went for dual 120mm fans, and let the PSU have plenty of cool air from outside the case. It also opened up the interior for some extra room and allowed me to get most of the extra cabling completely out of the way...

The only drawback to this 'design' was that it had a rather "ugly" hump on the top of the case... but at the time, looks didnt matter as I was running a dual celery 366 and overclocking the hell out of it...

I also needed the extra cooling because of 5 SCSI HDDs that were nothing more than expensive toaster ovens... 8)

No problem, my armor has this feature, the PSU goes vertically and there's no reason to be worried about ;)
