I've been trying for a while now to find an Athlon XP 2600+ (266MHz FSB), but to no avail. What I'm trying to do is upgrade my MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU (VIA KT266a) to the max. A number of people claim that they were able to run an Athlon XP 2600+ (266MHz FSB) -- the highest-clocked CPU this mainboard officially supports, according to MSI, is an Athlon XP 2100+ (266MHz FSB) -- by removing the C37 condensator (?) from the mainboard and flashing the BIOS. The problem, however, is that a 266MHz FSB-version of the Athlon XP 2600+ is extremely hard to come by (especially here in the Netherlands).
So instead of buying an Athlon XP 2400+ (2600MHz FSB), which are widely available, I was thinking that maybe it's possible to modify an Athlon XP 2600+ (333MHz FSB) so that it will run at 266MHz FSB-speed? Is there anyone who's done this before, or happened to come across an article online that describes how to do this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
