Hello all,

Does anyone here see a problem with me mixing 2x1gig patriot DDR2 PC6400
with 2x1gig crucial DD2 PC6400 the spec are identical on both ram kits not sure if patriot uses micron mem chips or is it best just to go all patriot or all crucial

Thanks,

Bingo!

It would most likely be OK, but there is always a possibility that they might not "like" each other due to different subtimings.

I am assuming that the main timings and the voltage are identical. (e.g. 4-4-4-12 @2.2V).

Good luck!

Yes totally identical but if there is a possibility of issues I'll just make em all the same. Thanks for the reply btw any issues with running 4x1gig crucial in a IP35-E?

You know that you need a 64-bit OS for all of the 4GB of RAM to be recognized, right...?

For a 32-bit OS I would recommend a total of 3GB (2x1024 + 2x512).

Don't know your MB - perhaps someone else can help you with potential issues related to running 4 sticks of RAM on ABIT IP35-E.

Some of NVidia MB's with 650i or 680i chipset require increasing the Northbridge Voltage to over 1.5V to run 4 sticks.

Yes I was made aware recently that you need 64bit to see 4gigs. I have both 32 and 64bit vista any compelling reason to not install 64 vista then?. When you say not recognized do you mean the 4th stick is not used by the system at all or just windows does not report it even though it's there and being used? Thanks for your help

Thanks JustaGeek the articles explained things very well. I am going to install the 64bit version and see how things go worst case I reload 32bit thanks!
