Can i Merge 2 Ps3's together?

I have a old PS3 fat 60gb that can play ps2 games but the disc drive broke.. I got a new PS3 slim that works just fine but its not backwards compatible with PS2 games and as many people know there is no emulator for the new model. Rather then having 2 PS3's sitting around can i merge the 2 together, the Ps3 slim has a bigger HD and is smaller. And its the shell i want to keep. Can i take out the part of the old PS3 that allows playing of PS2 games and put it into my PS3 slim. Or the other way around take all the internals out of the PS3 slim and put it into the Ps3 Fat as the Old ones blue ray drive dont work

Yes but the amount of work and knowledge you would need to do so, well it's not going to happen.

WAY easier and better use of time to just pay to get the fat one fixed and upgrade the HD.

Or just pay $50 bucks and get a ps2 slim from ebay.

Just repair the fat. That's what I've done, twice now .

I just replaced the blu-ray drive in my fat ps3. Pretty easy to do, just need to be sure to take the control board from the dead drive and put it on the new drive. Don't know if the slim's blu-ray drive would work in the fat ps3...probably not. No way you are going to get the BC hardware into the slim though.

I believe you can smash them against one another at terminal velocities and create nuclear fusion.

But on a serious note, I find that very impossible just considering the fact the the form factors are completely different.

I doubt the Blu Ray drive from the slim will work in the fat. You'll need to get the fat fixed.

Yeah, just cut the top off of both units, then place one on top of the other and glue to taste. Enjoy!

For the people with fat PS3's that broke, was it typically the disc drive that broke? How easy was it replace it? How much is a replacement drive?
