Can I make Far Cry play when the CD is in my DVD drive?

So, far it will only read the play CD in my CD-ROM, not the DVD-ROM.

Do I need to get a no CD patch or is there one that will just make it read the CD in my DVD-ROM?

did you install the game from the CD drive? it may be the case that it'll only look in the install drive for the cd. try switching the drive letters around and maybe it'll let you play from the dvd

i would either try to switch drive names. alter an .ini file or just use a no-cd patch. i use them for all my games. its just easier.

How do I change the drive names or what do I change in the *.ini file?

in control panel, admin tools, computer management... theres a drive manager thingy.. you can right click your drives, and change the letter... (change CD drive to K or something, change DVD to old CD drive letter, then change K drive back to the DVD drive's old letter or leave it at K)
