Hey guys,

I was wondering if I could still live with my 40GB 5400RPM Samsung HD until later next year where I'll get my SATA harddrives for cheap. Will it work okay with my new setup? And will it be okay for now?

A64 3000+ skt 939
6600GT PCI - Express
samsung 512mb PC3200
MSI K8N Neo4-F nForce4
antec 350w psu
samsung 40gb 5400RPM (from old setup)

Your used to it already so you won't notice the difference. As long as it works, I say use it.

If you're using it already, you don't notice anything different. ;)
But when you change to a 7200rpm or a 10K rpm drive later next year, you'll be amazed at the speed increase.

Oh I see. Well then I'll make sure to pick up 2 Raptor drives when I get some money next year.

and produces more heat as well, not good inthe summer. 250gb at 5400rpm will be many times faster still vs a 7200 rpm drive at 40gb ;)

You mean the outer platters might be slightly faster, as opposed to many times faster. A 250gb 7,200rpm drive is not many times faster than a 36gb WD raptor, it's still slightly slower.
