Can I leave my drivers alone if upgrading from a geforce 256 ddr to a 3?

I just got a geforce 3 and was wondering if I could just leave my nvidia driver 12.90 alone and swap the cards, or should I get rid of the old driver and then reinstall it.

On a side note, what drivers are the best for a geforce3 with win2k pro and a 1.33 athlon?

You should have no problems with just swapping cards. The 12.90 drivers should just detect the newer GF3 and install the drivers as such.

But to be on the safe side, you can uninstall, switch display back to VGA, shutdown, replace the GF with the GF3, power up and then reinstall the 12.90s.

Until the newer Detonator 4s (20.x) come out, the 12.90s seem to be the fastest out there. I would stick with them until the Detonator 4s.

thanks for the help guys. I switched out the cards, but then had to delete the old drivers and reinstall em anyway. It runs fine now though. Later
