Can I just remove it?

I want to know if I need to disconnect first by software my Flash Drive before I remove it from my PC, doing that can cause a permanent damage in my drive or it is just in case that File handler is left open?

if you are actively writing something to it or copying off of it, it can hurt the drive, but rarely. If your doing nothing with it, its just sitting there, its fine to just pull it out
