My Battlefield 2 performance is the suckage. I'm pretty sure my memory is the bottleneck and my buddy has 2 sticks of the same stuff I got (corsair 2x512 valuerame).

Will it be okay if I borrow these and just pop them in my rig (for 4x512) to test to see if memory is the bottleneck?

I won't have to reformat or adjust BIOS or anything?

Thx.

Yes, you can pop them in without needing to do anything else, except be careful not to static-shock the sticks or your motherboard.

And of course don't install them with the power on :)

Yes, as a general rule you can change the memory in your computer without any reformats or bios changes, given that your motherboard/cpu supports said memory.

only thing is with 4 sticks, you will have to run 2T command rate. so even if your ram is the bottleneck (which, looking at your system specs, I reckon it may be), this wont show it too accurately.

in short, go buy more RAM. any reasonable 2 gig kit will do you fine.

With BF2, from 1gb to 2gb makes all the difference in the world. That has been the
best upgrade for the game that I made. Load times decreased and lag has all but
dissapeared.

You 'might' have to relax your timings a little (if you're going to 4 sticks) depending on what they are now. But otherwise, the MoBo does all the work.
