Can I just add DVDROM?

I have PIII-500 on Soyo 6BA+IV and a VooDoo3-3000 AGP video card.

Can I just add a dvdrom like the Pioneer DVD-115 without any other hardware...like a card?

Do I need any software? I watch DVD on a home theater system but a lot of them now tell you there is additional stuff if you put the dvd in a computer.

TIA

All you need to watch DVD movies on your PC is a DVD drive and a software DVD player... your processor should be powerful enough so that you don't need a DVD decoder card...

Some software DVD players include PowerDVD and WinDVD...

Yes, you can just add the dvd rom. The P3 500 is fast enough to watch movies using a software dvd player, no need for a dvd decoder card. You just need to get a software DVD player. I've been using PowerDVD for awhile now and I like it.

Thanks Guys. I did not care about DVD until I saw one for $29.95 on the hot deal section...Pioneer dvd-114 from OD. They are out, however. So, when I see one for a good price again, I can just get it and look for the software.
