i bought a laptop with xp on it can i install that os on another system? how can you tell what type of use lisc u have.

thanks

There's two kinds of OS liscences: OEM and retail. If the OS came installed on your laptop, then it is OEM. OEM copies of WinXP cannot be transferred to another computer (technically, another CPU). Retail copies can be, but can still only be installed on exactly one machine.

Read the liscence agreement that came with your laptop. It should be on the recovery CD or OS CD that came with it.

read the EULA.

It is probably an OEM version which is only legal to install on the hardware it was delivered with.
