Can I install Windoews 7 x64 over x32 on intel SSD

Hello,

I just finished by new system and completed windows 7 installation as well Offcie 2007. I was not carefull and foumd that I installed x32bit version.

My question is can I install Windows 64 bit over the current version ?

Also I have intel X25M 80GB SSD and I used this for OS and apps. Do I need to do anything to keep my SSD clean when I remove any programs. I have already configured AHCI.

Please let me know.

Thank You.

For the first - You should wipe and do a full reinstall.

Regarding the second - Win 7 should auto detect the SSD and - (as long as AHCI is also enabled in the Bios) - ensure the drive is exempted from being automatically defragmented and will also enable the TRIM command.

I tried to reinstall win7 but it did not ask me format partition. It install win7 32 bit on top. Now my SSD has less space.

When I go to Win7 admin tools/ computer management and tried to format C: my ssd, it does not allow me to reformat.

Please help... I am stuck..

of course you cannot format running windows partition.

do another reinstall, this time on screen where you choose partition, there is "drive options (advanced)" button which when opened, shows "format":
