Can i install stock AMD64 heatsink on a socket A?

evident

How hard do you guys think it would be to pull this off? i am sick and tired of my socket a board sounding like a vacuum cleaner and unless i can figure out how t o mount a 120mm fan on the TT volcano that's on it, this is my next best alternative choice.

I just noticed that you said that you have a TT volcano on it, my parents have the same one, it should have come with a fan controller...

Yea you can't fit newer cooler on a socket A board...try removing the stock fan and gluing a lower speed fan in.

If you don't want to remove stock cooler and re-apply thermal paste and all, then you can try buying a Zalman Fanmate (about 5 bucks) and plugging the 3 pin wire from your socket A cooler into that. Then you can manually control fan speeds to an acceptable level.

BTW, if it's the Volcano 10+ Slim edition, it uses a 60x10mm fan. I used a 60-80mm fan adapter and mounted a 80mm on it. The 60mm I now use to cool my Northbridge.

I never throw away fans. I just find other uses for them.
