Hi all,

This is my first post in this forum so please bear with me if my question is very noobish.

I have a ABIT KR7A motherboard with 4 slots for DDR RAM. I have 3 slots filled with 256 MB of Crucial RAM in each slot. I was wondering if I could fill the fourth empty slot with a 512MB stick of RAM without any issues? Can I mix and match different capacities this way?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with that board, but it should since your running 3, I'm guessing its not using dual channel, so it should be fine to add that stick

Welcome to the forums!

I have a KR7A-133R and personally I have had trouble trying to use three slots, and it's been no-go for four. I do recall this was an issue with my particular board, but not if it was across the entire KR7A line, and it may very well have been the size of my memory modules too. It should work fine, if you are not having problems with three. And no, the KR7A doesn't use dual-channel. It's an oldish non-nForce Athlon motherboard. ;) Stable as all hell though, I still use mine.
