Can I install 2 antivirus programs?

AVG and Antivir. Is there any benefit/drawbacks of having both installed?

I find when using two antivirus softwares it's best to have only one of their resident protections running. Set up the second one just for manual scanning only. Having two resident protections running at once tends to cause issues.
