Can I host a local server with bots in BF2 or the expansion pack???

Yes. Start a single player game. Others connect via ip.

Cander's suggestion doesn't work b/c you can't connect to a single player game via IP.

Anyone else?

It works.

Step 1:Start a singleplayer game on the server.
Step 2:Take note of the IP address
Step 3:Multiplayer --> Internet --> Join IP --> input that IP as shown, click ok
Step 4:Play

Note: This was done with two "Online" accounts.

The client machine has to be an online account as it has to be able to use the "Connect to IP" box, which only functions under the Join Internet tab.

Don't quote me on this, but I think the server can be offline though.
