Can I go from a yellow RCA out on my speaker console (for viewing setup information, nothing long term) to the green component input on my LG 55LS4500? TV doesn't support RCA, and I want to say in the back of my head that yellow to green would get me some semblance of video which would work for my needs. But don't want to blowed anything up.

#1 - it says there is an RCA input on the rear:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/LG-55LS450...Specifications

2 x HDMI input ( 19 pin HDMI Type A ) - rear ¦ 1 x composite video/audio input - rear ¦ 1 x digital audio output (optical) ( TOSLINK ) - rear ¦ 1 x USB 2.0 ( 4 pin USB Type A ) - side ¦ 1 x component video input ( RCA phono x 3 ) - rear ¦ 1 x audio line-in ( RCA phono x 2 ) - rear

#2 - otherwise you'd need to get a converter box, but Composite to Component boxes are pretty expensive (like $80+). It'd be cheaper to get a Composite to HDMI box ($50) and just run HDMI:

Well that's what I get for looking up the back of the TV on google images instead of walking 10 feet and looking behind it. I'm a shithead, sorry!

It does indeed have composite in. But looks like it really is just the green component input. Wonder if that would work the same for for all component in or just those like mine?

Anyways, thanks for showing me I'm a moron!

Ah, weird. Check out page 36 of the PDF manual - "Composite Connection":

http://www.lg.com/lgecs.downloadFil...dt.pdf&FILE_NAME=KROWM000409543.pdf&TC=DwnCmd

It looks like they combine the Yellow Composite video input with the Green Component plug. That's the laziest thing I've ever seen, hahahaha. I haven't seen anyone do this before - typically if you plug a Composite cord into a Component plug, you'd just get a funny image on your screen because it's not getting all the video data. So they must have an electronic switch that goes between Composite & Component. It looks like the top Component jacks are the ones you want to use. Usually you cannot do this because of the way that the different video signals work.

I can't believe they did that! That's so confusing!! Why would you confuse consumers even more by having a different-colored plug AND having it be on a combo jack with a different type of connector? I guess they saved 10 cents by not installing a Yellow RCA jack on the back :D
