Can I have (without interference) both an AGP videocard and a PCI vid card in the same setup?

I recently got rid of an ATI Radeon 64ddr VIVO and replaced it with a Visiontek GF3. However, I'm really realizing now that I used the VIVO a whole lot more then I thought I did, and now that I've got a 21" monitor I want to play with it more often.

So I can get 16-32mb sdram ATI AIW PCI cards dirt cheap. It's pretty important that having the 2 cards in doesn't affect gaming performance a whole lot. From what I understand phyrically ahving the 2 cards in the same rig isnt an issue, but I remember hearing people complain about poor gaming speeds when traces of old drivers were left, so I got concerned.

One last thing: Would the VIVO on the older pci sdram AIW work at around the same quality level as my Radeon DDR did? If it does, then the TV out and coax-in would just be a pleasent added bonus 🙂

In general, I don't think you would have a problem with using both a AGP and PCI video card. However, I don't know about having an Nvidia and ATI card in the same system. It seems like the two drivers may not get along. 🙂

But, I have never used an ATI card, so I certainly don't claim to be a expert...

if it helps i used a ati radeon and a matrox millenium and a gf2mx and a matrox millenium with no interference.i found it was actually very easy -no headaches to get them to play nice together.

now the one card to stay away from is the tv wonder ve in 98 it works nicely but xp doesn't like this card
i got it working but it was buggy and reinstalling it in my new system was not worth the hassle.

what ever you get should work fine.

I recently had a Gainward Geforce 3 ti 200 and a Radeon 32MB PCI together in the same system. Just telling you cause it is VERY similar to the cards that you are putting together, so YES it will work 🙂
