I want to start a new toon in Skyrim, but any attempt to auto save will just save over my old character's file. I can "hard save" but I'm afraid I might accidentally save over my other character as well.

Is there a way to have to independent characters where I don't have to worry about it saving over my other character? Can I create a new folder to save my new campaign to?

** Nevermind, figured it out. :)

You have to actually make normal save files and not rely on the auto save when you use more then one character in Skyrim.

It works just fine no reason to fear deleting other save files.

You can also copy/paste your save game files to a backup directory. I do this when I start a new character just so I don't accidentally overwrite something I meant to keep.

We use to call them 'characters' in my day. Too many syllables for the young-ins I guess. And it also irritates the crap out of me. I'm guessing WOW has something to do with it.

It pre-dates WoW. Characters were called "toons' in EQ (circa 1998-1999)

OK, found some.

I noticed WOW pretty much killed all the others as soon as it was introduced.
Also noticed a lot of folks jumped shipped from EQ1 to EQ2 but then immediately came back, or stopped playing entirely. Proof that the community is much more important than the game itself.
