I have ECS k7s5a motherboard and I am using its onboard lan, whose port is used by Cable Modem. Can I install another network card on it so that I can connect the desktop to my notebook? I am not sure whether two network cards can work together.

Thanks a lot.

Yes. It should work exactly as you might expect. Both cards should be present under Device Manager and Network Settings.

Great! Thanks guys.

In this way do you think I can directly shared the cable modem without a router? With modem I know I can share the internet by enable the internet sharing on that connection. With cable modem there is no connection icon created. So it seems I do need a router to have both of them on line. Am I right here?

Again, thanks,

After you install the 2nd NIC there will be a tab to enable sharing on the nic that's got the cable modem connection, just enable that and you're all set.
