Is it possible to have

2->Western Digital Raptor 10k drives running in RAID 0 on the Intel ICH7R chipset's SATA ports.

///// AND \\\

1-> Seagate Barracuda drive running in SATA2 on the Silicon Image Sil3132 controller

~~~~~SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS BELOW~~~~~
Storage/RAID layout for the Asus P5WD2 premium motherboard!
Intel ICH7R South Bridge:
*1 x UltraDMA 100/66/33
*4 x Serial ATA I/II 3.0Gb/s with Intel Matrix Storage Technology with RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 support
Silicon Image 3132 SATA controller:
*1 x Internal Serial ATA I/II
*1 x External Serial ATA
ITE IDE controller:
* 2 x UltraDMA 133/100/66
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I would like the performance of a RAID 0 using 2 Western Dig. Raptor 10k drives and the security of a Large SATA2 hdd for backup and storage purposes.

I need to know before purchasing online if this is possible.

I called Asus tech support they said it was indeed possible but I would like to know from here, mabey from somebody with real experience in this type of config.

OS = Windows XP pro
MOBO = Asus P5WD2 premium

In other words

Can a motherboard which has two different controllers for hdd storage/raid operate independently in different modes and still be properly recognized and fully functional inside the Windows operating system!

[edit]

Ok here is what I am thinking the reason for this setup.

I want to use my RAID 0 Western Dig. 10k's for the OS / PCgame ISO's current playing / NON-critical programs

I want to use a partitioned SATA2 drive for > Storage / Critical Applications (Maya/Motionbuilder, Photoshop etc) / Scratch disk / Music / Backup ETC...

If I were to lose the data on the RAID 0 Raptors I would not be that much bother to do a Re-Install of Windows and other crap that would be there.

Would this be a fast setup for gaming and OS boot and and response time?

Does anyone else have an opinion?
