No, but why would you want to? There actually might be some utility around there that does it, but why would you want to downgrade to dx 8.0a? 8.1 is built into Windows XP, as well as required for pretty much every new Directx game that's coming out, so sooner or later you'll just need to upgrade again.

I'm wondering the same thing as my new directx install is giving me a minor little problem.

I've done this before if I can remember correctly, and all I did was reinstall win2k (without reformatting). When Win2k is installed over the the existing one, it replaces 8.1 with whichever one came with it. If it's a lower one than 8.0a, you can just upgrade up to 8.0a, but you can't downgrade from 8.1.

I bet win98 se is the same.

to my knowledge, you cannot do that without reformatting. before you try that, i would uninstall mohaa COMPLETELY (maybe run regedit three/four times to make sure it's clean), then reinstall... and you've already been over to the mohaa forums (if ea has any lol) to see if there's a new patch or a solution to your dilemma? good luck!

The only real safe way is to reinstall the OS.

installed it and it screwed up my Mohaa game

Do you have the latest drivers for your video card and sound card?

i've done it many times: 8.0a is MUCH more stable
use dxbuster for Win 98
do it in safe mode so it can take everything off
I do it twice (cold boot - to normal/ cold boot back to safe) just to be sure

whatever you do - don't install one direct x over another
soooo many probs related to dir X corruption
