Why need to help to win a photo contest?
Best help to win a photo contest - to make a good photo...not to click on this or that,,,
Why someone have to win that contest?

One thing...photography can be an art...and, some might look at technical side, some might be look at artistic side...

I've participated in photo contests - challenges on dpreview, I've never ever even told anyone that I've entered any of contests...Well, I've very 1st time I've entered photo challenge, I've posted on camera I use forum, that I've posted photo to one of contests, but I didn't ask anyone asked to vote or give any "help" to win...

After that, If I've entered any photo into challenge, I've never told even my friends...

Let's people deceide, play by the rules....

And, what's most important, you'll find out, what your photos are worth of....

I agree that photos should be judged based on what they are, what they make you feel, how they evoke you, how artistic they are, etc. If you like the photo, if you think it's a great photo that shows two people whom are very much in love, then vote for it. If not, if you think any of the others are better, then by all means; vote for a different one or don't vote at all. I'm merely trying to help a friend out who, IMHO, has the best photo of the bunch win a contest. She didn't ask for the help, nor will I tell her I did this for her. That's my $0.02, now back to the Walking Dead :p

Want to help your friend?

Tell her to enter one of http://www.dpreview.com/challenges/

Her photo isn't bad, I would say pretty good...Just doesn't belong or to be voted/liked on Facebook...

Let her enter her photo on one of photo challenges...It might not end up 1st, but not in last place...
just need to read what a photo challenge is about and rules of entry...

And...This tread belongs to Digital and Video Cameras forum...not off-topic....

Again, while I agree with ya about photos being subjective, artsy, good/bad, etc. in all reality, this is what it is; her photo studio (for promotion or whatever reason) put a contest on Facebook for some free prints. At the end of the day, votes = free prints to a couple who deserves them (not that the other families don't). Like I said, vote if you like, don't if you don't. Just trying to help a friend out.

I also help friends' kids sell girl scout cookies at work, is that wrong? Should the cookies not sell themselves based on how good they are? No, they need people to sell/buy them just like contests (however big/small valid/invalid) need people to vote. You can't get people to vote without getting the word out, which is what I was doing.

And I think at this point, it does belong in off topic because we've gone from getting votes to debating what a photo contest is and what's right/wrong :p
