Can I get SSD drive formatted from Windows 7?

I am building a new computer. I actually bought the parts for it like in February, but was having some problems with it.

Anyways, I have Windows 7. Also have a solid state drive - never used on of those before.

So I am at the point where the computer posted and went into bios. Video is working. So I was now going to plug in the hard drive and DVD player, and boot Windows from the DVD player.

Can I do whatever I need to the solid stated drive (if anything) from the Windows 7 boot? Or are there sticking points with these (relatively) new solid state drives, particularly using Windows 7?

Thanks fellas!

No sticking points - just go through a normal Windows 7 installation process. It's smart enough to deal with SSDs just fine.

If the drive is completely unformatted, you probably will have to go into "advanced" install options and format/partition it first. That's true for SSDs and HDDs.

If your mb is UEFI I would take advantage of it and perform a UEFI installation of win 7.

Also, disconnect any other drives you may have while installing your OS... just the DVD and the SSD. Once W7 has installed, you can hook everything back up.
