Can I get better video editing with a new gpu?

I'm upgrading a 7750 to a radeon 7870

Depends on the editing program. I know Premiere would use Geforce cards to render their preview window. I think they might have updated it for Radeon cards as well, but I'm not sure. I haven't used Premiere in awhile.

EDIT: Raedon cards are supported via OpenCL, and Geforce via cuda.

What video editing applications do you use?
What kind of projects do you do?

And if you already have a new GPU on the way, why ask whether you will get better performance? You will be able to see for yourself when your new GPU arrives.
