Can I get back in to BIOS if settings don't work?

I have looked at the BIOS settings recommended on the forum...guess I'm just afraid it will lock up and that I won;t be able to access BIOS. But if I have a startup disk I should?

Plus with the holidays I might not be able to get support. Running the Epox 8KHA+.

Thanks.

You shouldn't have trouble getting back into the BIOS. I just did my first build on a system very similar to yours (8KHA+), and I had to make a few BIOS changes before I had everything right. It was never a problem getting in.

As you mention win98 in your specs I will let you know that I originally installed in 98se without disabling ACPI and specifying the IRQ selection. I wound up with everything on IRQ 11 and my NIC was unusable (it appeared as working correctly, but didn't show up in winipcfg whatsoever). Disabling ACPI and specifying the IRQ's according to the config guide thread on the amdmb forums solved the problem.

Thanks for the reply. My NIC seems to be doing okay but I will check the IRQs. I could have had somebody build the PC but wanted to accept the challenge and do it myself. My daughter said, "Build a PC Dad?. Yeah right!" But now they believe! :D It only took me a couple of hours. My wife thought it would take a week! She wasn;t being sarcastic, she just didn;t know what was involved.

Merry Christmas.

If all else fails, that is what the clear CMOS jumper is for. It will wipe all the settings out of the bios, and return them to their default state.
