I've kind of wondered about this too. I'm sure it's possible somehow (back in the day, they got the Nvidia Dawn demos to run on the Radeon 9700/9800 cards), but I'm not sure what would be required to do it.

Actually, what I would be really interested in seeing on my 6800GT is that Crytek demo. :)

Edit: Apparently that Crytek demo does work, it just takes forever to load. :p

Double Cross... that's the Ruby demo right? I had a "hack" to make it work on my 9800 Pro... and I had a "hack" to make the Dawn and Dusk nVidia demo's work on my 9800 Pro too... so I'm assuming there's a hack to make the Double Cross/Ruby demo work on a GeForce 6 series.

*EDIT* Nevermind... found the Crytek demo...

**EDIT** Just watched the Crytek demo... I guess it's good... I'm not overly impressed though... I thought the cutscenes in Far Cry were better than this demo. Maybe some things didn't work correctly cause of my 6800GT and this being an ATI demo. I didn't like how things were blurred... I could clearly see the edges of "boxes" that were used to blur things in the background and foreground as if a telephoto lense was being used.

Thanks to you all for your answers.

I noticed that some of you were not that impressed of the Crytek demo and I couldn't agree more.

The Crytek demo is really bad as a graphics demonstration of a graphic card in my opinion.

Jeff7181, I saw that you wrote this "I didn't like how things were blurred..." and I must admit that I REALLY hated that to.

Yeah... I mean they have nice textures... nice models... nice animation too... but they ruin the textures and models with the horrible blurring effects... and the special effects were less than impressive. During installation I saw some references to HDR... I'm guessing since it's an ATI demo, HDR only works on ATI cards because I DEFINATELY didn't see any HDR in the demo on my 6800.

For those of you who haven't seen it... the models/textures are basically on par with the Doom 3 "cutscenes." That is of course... when you can see them through the "blur panels" they seem to randomly throw around.

I'll run that ATi/Crytek demo on both my X850 and my 6800 and see what differences there are. I'll report back later and give an update on how it runs.

Ok, well I was able to run it on the X850 before I had to run off to work.

It ran fine, everything looked good. Also everything looked normal, I didn't notice any boxes or anything, but I did notice the blurring, which, IMO doesn't look realistic. Like towards the end where there's the one guy talking to two henchman (one on the dock by the guy the other on a boat) and when it switches to focusing on the one on the boat it blurs out the one in the foreground. I'm guessing they were aiming for something like when you focus on something distant and whats close gets blurred, but they overdue it, because your vision wouldn't blur like that. Oh, and there is HDR to some extent (like the guy and girl on the boat) but its not that noticeable and looked similar to normal lighting done in the past. It didn't make me think of the HDR with 6800 cards at all (I've run the 3.0 patch with my old 6800GT and thought it looked great).

Yeah, I was very unimpressed, I think the in-game graphics of Far Cry are better. It was like they thought they had to go and make it look more like Doom3. Another thing I noticed is that the clothing textures look not so great, like they were bumpmapped and not given a very high res texture. Reminds me of some of the graphics from Halo 2.

I think that they just did a poor job on it overall. When the creature starts attacking the two scientist guys was just not well done (the physics of when the one hits the electricity is not very realistic). And yeah, for a graphics demo, it was pretty weak. I think the only area where it improved upon Far Cry's graphics was with the facial textures/models/animation.
