Can I get a supercharger for a 97 Jaguar XK8?

My Dad loves his 97 Jaguar XK8, but wants more pizazz out of it. He was looking at supercharged Jags before buying the XK8, ended up settling on the XK8 since he got a real good deal on it. It'd be great if he could put a supercharger in his XK8. Is it possible/worth it? I don't know much about performance car parts, I don't even drive myself. If it's possible I don't know how much a supercharger would cost, where to buy one, or how much installation would be. I found a couple of sites that looked real shady, and haven't learned anything. I'm trying to find out. Thanks.

It's going to cost bucks and will probably be even less reliable...if that's possible to believe.

Because you can help me...oh wait, no you can't :p - There's a lot of motorheads here.

I know there's an XKR you snide bastards ;), but he doesn't want to buy an entirely different car. Would be cheaper (hopefully...still looking for info) just to put a supercharger

You really need a Jag forum for this kind of question. There aren't a lot of Jag owners on here and thats a bit more involved then changing the spark plugs. There probably isn't a lot of aftermarket kits out there for doing that and if there is even one its probably expensive as hell.

Okie dokey. Everyone else I've asked has no idea either, so it's not something most automobile people would know, it's real specific. I figured it would be fairly easy to get an XKR supercharger in the XK8. Well, easier than it would be for most cars anyways. I'll see if I can find a Jag forum, haven't had much luck so far.

You probably can but its more then just slapping a supercharger from an xkr on it. The XKR probably has lower compression and stronger internals to deal with the boost not to mention the different computer setup.

Actually there is an XK8 and an XKR, the XKR is the pumped up version.

I'd post on a jaguar forum, but I'm sure most people will say it'll be hard to find a turbo/super for a car that old and that because it's so old and probably has so many miles it probably won't pass a compression test and/or kill the engine pretty quick.

Exactly, it's not that simple.

And like I said above, given how old the car is and the fact that its internals weren't as strong to start off with...

Engine will probably get pwnt.
