Can I get a different refresh rate?

I tried unclicking the "hide other options" button, but still nothing shows up but 59hz and 60hz...I'd like to get it higher since I do experience screen flicker in one game in particular and it hurts like hell to play it. I've got an asus 24inch LCD, though I'm not sure how to find the details about it...it's says 2ms, 2000:1, HDCP on the side of it, so i know that's refresh, color density and probably high-def, but i'm not sure if this thing supports higher settings. I'd think it does since it's brand new and cost $300, but hey, not my department, which is why I'm asking.

If there's like an overide or something I'm missing, let me know...Tried Googling, but I get a lot of the same, unclick the hide button, etc. it doesn't work.

If you're getting flickering on a recent LCD, it's probably being caused by the BFI tech (often advertised as "120hz"). I think you can usually disable that somewhere in the LCD's own options menu. The only other thing I can think of is that the backlight is defective.

Any LCD at that resolution will be limited to 60hz, and that shouldn't affect the flickering anyway. It's strange that 59hz is actually an available setting though.

very VERY few LCDs support more then 60hz refresh rate. I seriously doubt your does (i dont know of any 24 incher that does). If you were to force it to a higher refresh rate it will either do nothing (it will be ignored by the hardware to protect itself), or it will cause it physical damage, ruining it (more likely). that 2ms isn't the "screen refresh rate". (although most people call it refresh rate)

Also LCDs do not have a natural flicker, PERIOD, no matter WHAT their refresh rate (CRTs did have flicker, which was reduced by higher refresh rates, but those are two completely different technologies that work differently). If you do have flicker, then your LCD is defective.
The options are:
1. Your LCD is broken (least likely)
2. Your video card is having issues, most likely drives, causing SPECIFIC games to flicker (do you get flicker in windows? if so then its more severe and might be a defective video card)
3. There is also a possibility that you experience TEARING and wrongly call it flicker, turn on V-sync and see if it solves the problem.

PS. 59hz is commonly used in LCDs of that size that have TV input. But should only be used with actual TV input (ie, if you connect it to a cable box or a playstation). If you plug it to a PC then keep it at 60.

There are actually a few recent LCDs that can flicker, the ones with that black frame insertion system. These LCDs put an extra black frame between every normal frame, which is supposed to reduce the perceived effects of ghosting (and the manufacturers call that 120hz :p). I don't get the logic behind it, as it would basically make the LCD look like a 60hz CRT, but it can be disabled on all the monitors with it as far as I know.

You want to turn "ON" vsync not off. It is in your display control properties or in your game options. I always keep vsync and triple buffering forced to "Always On" in my driver options as i get flickers in some games with my LCD too. Fixes everything
