I'm not looking to play the latest games, but can I even play CS Source or BF2 with this machine?

It's like a 8400gs, you can even softmod the drivers, so yes, you can play games (albeit on low)

you can surely play rome on it, hell, i played rome on an old gf4 4200 a couple of years ago.

cs source will work fine (even on integrated graphics). for bf2, you'll have to turn settings/resolution down.
