The files are too large to put on one disk. I mean 1. the startup disk files 2. the Asus AFUDOS238 file then the BIOS file extracts to like 1MB.

Try to strip down the startup disk.
You only need these files for dos on the disk.
io.sys
command.com
msdos.sys

Everything else isn't needed.

If that doesn't work, try two disk.
It should work with two.

Well, I have (on the MS-DOS startup disk)...

ega2.cpi
ega.cpi
keyboard.sys
keybrd3.sys
mode.com
display.sys
ega3.cpi
keyb.com
keybrd2.sys
keybrd4.sys

I don't see the ones you mentioned.

Yes, you can use two floppies just fine to flash the BIOS. I usually use a Win98se startup floppy disk, that loads a RAMDRIVE and copies/expands the tools into that. Then I take the bios floppy and copy the flash tool and BIOS image file onto the RAMdrive as well. Then I flash from the RAMdrive.

Gee, I don't even know how to do a RAMdrive like that. I might have an old Win89SE startup disk laying around though.

What if I have one disk with the MS-DOS startup disk and the BIOS flash utility on it and the BIOS file on another floppy? Will it just say aborted or will I have a chance to swap floppies?

EDIT: Unless I put the BIOS flash utility on the other floppy with the BIOS file.

OK, I typed in A:\>afudos /im3a78-em-0701.rom
and it says bad command or file name.

Sheesh, I've flashed a BIOS before, I just have a hard time because the file is too large.

Any ideas anyone?

OK, nevermind. I did it with the EZ2Flash thingy. I did the ALT+F2 then pressed enter on the A: drive then enter twice I think and that was it (with the new BIOS in the floppy drive).

Thanks for trying to help. lol

I don't see the ones you mentioned.

That is because they are hidden.
You have to enable showing of system files in windows to see them.
None of those you listed are required to boot to dos and can be deleted.

Omg, got the answer too late. Oh well. Thanks for trying. Fortunately, the motherboard is still working after flashing it and it's showing 0701 as the new BIOS. I should probably copy this down however so I can do that in the future. :)
