can i find my Ip address when I'm on a router?

Today I was trying to make a server for a friend to connect to so we could play UT, but i counldn't find my ip address. I went to all those ip address sites, like whatismyip.com, but the ip they gave me wasnn't right. One of the sites said that i couldn't get the right address if i was using a router, which i am. How can i find the ip address of a computer on a router?

Download the following file:

IP2-Reads External and Local IP.

Uzip it and Execute it (no need to install), it will give you both the local and external IP.

this is an awesome little program, it should come with all routers 🙂

your router should tell you what your WAN IP is and IPCONFIG will tell you your computers IP.

or just go to dos and type in ipconfig /all

of course that won't give you your WAN IP... That you will have to log into your router to get it...

But that is a neat program... Beats logging into your router to see if the IP address has changed...

Man, you guys are making this way too complex. Go to http://www.whatismyip.com. It'll show you your external IP with nothing to install or a need to go into the router setup all the time.

Very good point, I must have missed that. Those sites are a reliable way to get your Internet IP address. Not the IP address that's on your local box behind the router, but your public IP used on the Internet.
