Can i fdisk my HDD from the Win XP cd before a clean install?

I currently use win98se but i want to do a clean install of Win xp...however, i want to change my partition sizes and am wondering if i can use fdisk from with the win XP cd as i do a clean install...or should i just be safe and use fdisk with my win98se boot disk...?
