Here's my situation, I have a Netgear MR814 router, with D-link
802.11g card and one Dell/Orinoco TrueMobile card
(testing purposes) My building is old and has thick walls to boot. I live
on the 6th floor and tested the signal... surprisingly it goes all the
way to the SECOND floor!!! that's about 5 layers of cement and a steel door,
without a hitch, till i head down to the first floor.
I was wondering if anyone's known/heard of anything out that might give my
signal a boost, to go a bit farther, like another 200 feet (I know it's pushing
it). I want to share the connection with my aunt in the next building,
and I'll be damned to tell her to get cable modem access (92 bux month RoadRunner
here in NYC). The building is about 50 feet of air apart, and Opposite side (dammit).
I've read numerous articles/suggestions: home made Omni Yagi kits etc..., without
success, was wondering if you Anandtech'ers would help out.
I don't care about purchasing equipment, more access points, antennas for router/AP/and
card... just want to know if anyone out there has success with doing this. Thanks
ya'll
