Can I extend C drive with Win 10 disc management?

I just got a used laptop and need to install the software. Somewhere I recently read from Microsoft that you should use approximately 20 gigs of disk drive space for the C partition for Windows 10. So I did. Then Microsoft Office did not let me choose drives and installed it on my C drive. So it went up to about 17 gigs. That's just too little left so I have to extend the C drive up to about 30 gigs to be safe.
I couldn't figure out how to do that with Disc Management but there probably is a way. It seems like this could be a common problem so there really should be some way to extend it without having to use a third program.

You can extend a partition with Disk Management ONLY if the unallocated space is immediately adjacent to the right of the partition to be extended.

If there is anything in the way, typically another partition, you must use another tool---such as Partition Wizard.

You can shrink C drive and there will produce an unallocated space, then you can create a new partition.

Also you can use Minitool Partition Wizard (there is free edition you can use.). The function Extend Partition is suitable for you. And the whole process is easy to operate and without data losing.

That is correct. the only to extend C: drive without using third party tools is to delete a adjacent partition. My suggestion is to use an third party software, AOMEI Partition Assistant, both the standard (free) or the Professional(paid) version will do. you can use it to either move the unallocated space and extend partition with disk disk Management to extend C: drive or directly merge partitions.
