Can I expect an Opteron 165 price drop any time soon?

I'm intending to build a new desktop soon, and I'm trying to make it future proof (unlike my not-so-beloved AthlonXP 2100+ system). So I want to get a multicore CPU, and an Opteron 165 seems like the way to go. Can I expect any AMD price drops soon?

Not much likely.

AMD is raising A64 & A64 X2 pricing in April apparently, so who knows what they'll do with Opteron pricing...

Really? The distributors I spoke with are expecting a price drop...at least they are here in Oz.

A 64 and X2 prices are set to rise, but not by a whole lot.

Remember Dave mentioning a while back that 165 prices would drop March-ish...
With the release of the 185.

Not likely, not until AM2 comes out and Conroe. AMD really has no competition at the present time.

Monarch has $60 coupons all the time for Opteron 165's. I just got mine for $283
