(This applies to an item which I bought from Germany via ebay classifieds and shipping w/ DHL, but this shouldn't really matter.)
I am in Spain and I already had sent many packages sent via DHL to me, graphic cards, boards, cases etc.. from ebay and online stores, and never had one issue with mail. I consider(ed) DHL super-reliable.
I bought an item off ebay classifieds and consider the guy 100% reliable and trustworthy. (There are many indications for this, including our email conversations etc.)
On 11/3 he gave the first package to DHL, to a DHL retail outlet or a package station.
I got a tracking nr. and tracking showed the package brought to the store and then an hour later or so "the shipment has been picked up" <--- indicating that DHL picked up the package and its in their possession .
However, for this package, this was it. Nothing more after "the shipment has been picked up", the next step would be that the shipment gets into the "start center" for processing, but this never happened.
DHL always needs 6-7 days to me. Yet nothing happens, no package received, no tracking update etc. so the guy today sent off a new item since we're assuming the first package lost.
The new package now also is at "the shipment has been picked up" status (it had been picked up today at noon and now it's midnight) but in this case I won't panic yet since I allow it a day, and of course I strongly hope it will be processed in the "start center" by tomorrow. I am also aware that DHL tracking is not real-time and can often be delayed.
My question now is whether I can exclude that I fell for some sort of scam, based on the fact that according to all logic and common sense, yes, packages have been given to DHL and they HAVE been "picked up" and are in possession of DHL? I can also pull-up more information when I enter my ZIP code on the tracking page and then it shows my name. Means these packages are in DHL's system w/ my name and ZIP etc.
- I am perplexed since I never had seen this happening with packages from DHL
- I am as confident as I can be that the seller is honest
