Can I exchange an opened DVD at costco?

My brother recently purchased the LOTR: ROTK Full Screen edition at costco...It has already been opened but I was wondering if I could exchange it for the Wide Screen version with some excuse? Is this immoral/illegal?
 
More than likely you can exchange for the same movie different version (Wide vs Full). That's how Wal-Mart is.
 
go speak with the store manager, be nice about it... tell him your mom doesn't know anything about DVDs and got the wrong version... be nice about it, if the manager is a good guy, he'll let you exchange.
 
If all else fails you may want to try this. I have never done it, but a friend of mine has @ wal-mart.

Return the opened dvd claiming that it is deffective. They will trade it for an UNOPENED dvd of the same title. Go to another walmart, claim the unopened was a gift and that you already own this dvd and they will gladly exchange for the dvd you really want.
