I want to know how to disable or remove the log on scree that pops up on Server 2003 when you log on.

Can I remove the "ctrl alt del" screen at startup and also can I have Server 2003 log off just like Windows XP? I do not want the program asking me why I am logging off.... but rather just shut down like XP does.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Try downloading Powertoys/TweakUI from MS.
I'm not sure if it'll work under Win2K3, but that info shouldn't be too hard to find on microsoft.com.
TweakUI has an option to turn on automatic login, along with lots of other nifty and useless stuff.

im not on my server right now so im not sure if its the same in 2k3 as xp but get into policy settings, look under computer configuration, windows settings, security settings, local policy, security, and theres an option in there: Interactive logon: do not require ctrl-alt-del

Changing this policy will not remove the login screen, it will just bring you directly to it when the system starts (as opposed to requiring you press ctrl+alt+delete first).

No I think he was trying to get rid of the logon screen, it was just a poorly formulated question.

But than again I could be wrong.

If you want to disable Shutdown Event Tracker do the following:

1 - Open Group Policy, then load the group policy you want to apply the change to.
(if the computer is not a part of a domain you can run this going START \ RUN and type GPEDIT.MSC )

2 - Expand Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates \ System

3 - Double-click Display Shutdown Event Tracker

4 - Select Disabled

5 - Select the Never option, then click OK

Exit the Group Policy editor.
