Can I.E.8 be installed on Windows 7?

Has anyone used his/her super magic to have Internet Explorer 8 installed on Windows 7?

If the machine already comes with I.E.9 (or 10) there is no option to uninstall it. And attempting to install I.E. 8 won't let you. Unless you know how to uninstall it.

Anybody has succeeded getting IE8 installed on Windows 7?

And please don't ask me or whine at me about why would I want to install IE8 on Windows 7 as I don't have time to argue. I am really busy.

Thanks,

Don't know if this helps, i have Windows 7 and I use a Virtualbox Windows XP Virtual Machine instance, that has IE8 and all other browsers, as a sandbox. You don't need to dedicate more than 256MB memory for Windows XP, and via Virtualbox guest additions you can share clipboard and files between Windows 7 and the Windows XP Virtual Machine.

Windows 7 shipped with IE8. So, yes, IE8 runs perfectly fine on Windows 7.

I haven't run into a situation where I need to try to downgrade when an OEM's base install includes 9 or 10, so I can't comment on that. You should probably talk to the hardware manufacturer that built your PC, or just wipe it clean and install a clean retail copy of windows.

^ thanks. I just did C:\format and installed Win7 from scratch and it indeed came with the I.E.8 Thanks guys.

If all else fails that good ol' standby of reinstalling Windows can solve alot of problems and it's good practice, too.

Why do want I.E. 8? I need to know because if it's better than what I'm using now which is
I.E. 10 I will also go with I.E. 8.
