I finally reformatted my hard drive, now i'd like to dual boot DOS and Win2K pro and maybe even WinMe. Will 2k recognize DOS as a boot option or do i need a special program or anything? I know it'll do fine with Windows Me as long as i install Me first, is the same thing true with DOS? Thanks in advance

Way I set mine up:

Partitioned a 20 gig hdd,
c=1 gig
D=10 gig
e=remainder of drive

DOS is installed on the 1 gig partition, FAT
then installed W2K on the D partition so I could convert to NTFS if need be.
E is just storage.

Once installed, if you convert the C partition to NTFS, you will lose your DOS partition,

max partition size under fat16 is 2 gig. anything larger than that, ms-dos up to version 6.22 will not see.

you will have to install dos 7 from windows 95/98 and fat32 partitions for larger partitions.

you could also install a partition manager like XOSL and install dos on it's own partition and not hamper windows with the outdated fat16 partition.

But even 1 gig is more than enough for DOS.

Well I've been dual-booting DOS7 (Win98 version) and XP on all my machines. I don't even use separate partitions......DOS and XP live happily together on the C drive, fat32. Should work on Win2k also...just install DOS first.
