I am trying to figure out how to download the Passion Of Christ movie trailer so I can extract the audio track from it. But there's no save option because it's a plugin. How do I do this?

What format is it in? There are several applications that would rip either WM format or RM... you can allso use something like "Total recorder" and record no matter what is playing through your soundcard.

either use a minidisc (if one is accessible) or check the cache, two of the easiest ways?

Streambox VCR!

This program works great! It's no longer supported by the author (and now for the best part) ...because of legal difficulties with Realnetworks, Inc. ...the fine folks that brought us Real Player! It's illegal to use this program in the U.S., so you may have to move abroad ...or better yet get a broad to move you! I found this program about 2 1/2 years ago here, thanks to a fellow AnAndTecher.

For Quicktime movie trailers you typically have to select the item from your temp internet files, right click on it, select properties and copy the shortcut path from there ...then paste it in Streambox VCR! and download.

Used to be you could just right click and select "copy shortcut" from the link on the web page ...and on other sites it still works that way. If you find that you're not copying the correct shortcut, just click the link to start opening it ...then stop it and go to your temp internet cache and locate the item there ...right click on the item and select properties ...copy and paste the shortcut from there.

Whoops! I didn't read the post thoroughly. How you go about extracting the audio only ...I don't know.
