Can I display HD content on a Dell LCD (2001fp)?

I'd like to see the difference between a progressive scan DVD and a HD video clip. Are there any websites with video where I can compare the difference. Also would a Dell LCD panel be able to properly display those video formats?

By the way what resolution is progressive scan video displayed in? (480p, 480i, 720p, etc...)

can't you just play a dvd if you have a dvd-rom

if your HD clips are 480P or 720P they are progressive. The P at the end means progressive the I means interlaced

oh ok, I should have known that from the beginning. So whats the difference between progressive and interlaced video? And which one is superior?

progressive is better than interlaced. DVD's can be 480P with a display that can do progressive.

4:3 hdtv's make baby jesus cry

I'm a newb to this stuff, why are 4:3's bad in HD. Besides would'nt a 16:9 just stretch the image unless its a movie shot in widescreen?

There are 6 digital formats that the FCC has qualified as "HDTV". All 6 have a 16:9 ratio.

This is the organization that was created to set the standards: atsc.org
