Can I disable the radio function (antennae) on a D-Link 524 wireless router?

I have used Netgear's wgr 614 wireless router for a while and there is a setting where the radio function (wireless function) can be turned of. Then the router will work as a non-wireless router instead.

Yesterday a friend of mine bought a D-Link 524 router and he doesn't want to have the radio function activated yet (will soon by a wireless nic). He wants to use it as a traditional router.

I therefore told him that it was probably possible to turn of the router radio but after browsing the router's different setting I couldn't find where to do it.

Therefore: How do I disable the router radio on a D-Link 524 wireless router (and on other D-Link routers that I have seen)?

(Removing the antennae on the router doesn't count :)

Many older Routers did not provide a way to disable the Wireless Internally.

You can Switch of SSID and set the Router to MAC filtering and configure strong WEP/WPA.

Still worried that someone would brake through, you can put few layers of Aluminum Foil on the Antenna and position the Router under the Desk (or similar location that would provide immediate obstructions).

Worrisome did not subside, switch off the DHCP Server and configure the computers that are wired to the Router with Static IP.

Still Worry, buy a new Wireless Router many are very inexpensive.

You may need to patch it to 1.05 or newer if somehow he has a Revision A running 1.03... couldnt imagine that though if he just bought it :)
