Quick version: Can I deposit a check made out to me and a buinsess?

Long version: I made an insurance claim a long time ago. They cut me a check to get the car fixed but made it out to me and a dealership's repair shop. I never got around to getting the repairs done. I forgot about the check until it showed up in my state's unclaimed property search. The state is going to send me another check but I'm assuming it will be addressed to me and that body shop.

What the heck do I do?

I think you can. Try it with the teller, the worst the teller could say is you need the business' signature or something.

If the check says "Pay to the order of Rudeguy and Dewey, Cheatem, & Howe auto repair, the bank cannot cash it without the signatures of both yourself AND an authorized signature from Dewey, Cheatem, & Howe.

You may be able to get the body shop to sign off on the check...but not likely.

If it says AND between the two names, both parties have to sign it. If it say OR, either one may sign it.
