There's only one usb port in the front of my PC tower. Can I daisy chain usb hubs from that?

If you use non powered hubs, though, all the ports have to share the power available at that single port on your PC. So it might limit how many ports you can use and still have a good 5V at each usb device.

If you use powered ports, though, you could probably use a bunch of them to get as many ports as you want.

The other consideration is the data. I guess the new ports have to share the data rate available at the single port. Might slow things down if you plug in a bunch of external SSDs. Would be OK for things like keyboards or mouse.

Finally, you might consider buying a PCIE usb card which adds 4 or more extra ports. They'd be in the rear though, so that might not be what you want.

Your motherboard doesn't have a bunch of USB ports on the rear I/O panel?

If it does, I'd simply get a hub with a longer cord or a detachable cord so you can swap in a longer one. If you need more USB ports, then get a hub with more ports or a 2nd hub with longer cord, or a USB extension cable or two.

As far as power goes, add up all devices to be simultaneously powered to see if a single port can support that. And/or get a powered hub with its own PSU.

Tell us, if you can, the maker and model of your mobo. OR, if this is a already-made computer, what make and model? Then we can look up its details. It is normal that a case might have only one or two front panel USB sockets, but the mobo normally has SEVERAL more on the back, plus possibly some mobo headers to plug in more for mounting somewhere.Further, you may have BOTH USB2 and USB3.2 ports on your mobo, and they can operate at very different speeds, so which things you plug in where and how needs some thought.
