Can I d/load Half Life 2 & use someone else's account?

So I'm thinking about buying a guy's Half Life 2 account (actually, the entire boxed retail version) but I want to play tonight. Can I login to Steam using his name/password & download HL2 onto my machine and play tonight so long as I have the CD Key & his Steam login info?
 
If you have his username and password, you can download steam and all the games that come with the version you have right away.
