Can I cut an old style sim card to micro

I have an Iphone 3 with an old style tmobile sim in it. It has the to go plan minutes on it and I wanted to use it in a newer phone which is a tmobile LG L9 that takes a micro sim.

Just looking at the sim I cant think it will work properly in the LG as a micro.

But I am thinking that if the sim works in the iphone then if I use an adapter on a micro sim will it work in the iphone? If it does then cutting the big sim to a micro should work in the L9, am I crazy?

Can I ever use this old sim in a newer micro sim phone? thanks
