Can I create a copier?

I have a HP Laserjet 1012 printer and a scanner.

Is there a way to combine the two to create a copier?

Thanks and any help is much appreciated!

Most scanners these days have a "Copy" button right on the front panel - works to "copy" by doing a scan and print operation with one button plus maybe a click on the screen if you don't want/need to change any settings (lke number of copies to print, etc.). Or you can open the scanner software, set the settings and then click on the on-screen Copy button. At least that's the way my Epson 1260 does it. Maybe in a slightly different order, but that's the gist.
. Most of the stuff I scan, I want to keep a copy of on disk anyway.

well once you get an image scanned, it's just a matter of printing that image from whatever program/viewer application. if you want something that streamlines the process of scanning and printing without first outputting a file, most of the bundled scanner software can do this. i also suggest a very powerful scanning program called Vuescan thats loads better than most bundled scanner software and supports hundreds of scanners. however, the program is not free.

directly with just the two.
Not without considerable expense.
In the end it would be cheaper to buy an all in one, scanner, printer.
Brother makes some nice ones for 200.00 or so.

Oh, I guess I didn't get it. You mean with no computer to direct traffic - theoretically possible but I haven't seen it. It doesn't require much of a computer in the middle.
