Can I copy XP to a DVD to speed my next format?

Just wondering, after looking and only finding image and partition solutions to this question, can I format my computer, copy everything to a DVD including machine specific drivers, programs, etc, and use that instead of installing from the XP CD next time? Every time I've ever formatted my computer I use the XP CD and it takes a long time to get everything how I like it. Can this be done? I want to avoid partitioning or saving an image to my HD if possible.

Google nLite. The forum Brazen linked is great too, but nLite greatly simplifies making an unattended CD/DVD.

true, but nLite doesn't let or explain to you how to make it automatically install office 2007, FF and say, adobe photoshop automatically from the DVD.

i'd use a combo and simply throw the install files onto the DVD too.
